Privacy
What is kept, and what is not.
Last updated 4 September 2026.
The short version
Your desk stays in your browser. The only thing collected is an email address, and only when you type one into a form yourself. There is no advertising, no tracking across other websites, and nothing sold to anybody, ever.
Who is responsible
The Dancer's Desk is run by one person, Miryam. She is the data controller for anything described here. To ask anything, or to have your details removed, write to hello@thedancersdesk.com.
Your desk
Everything you enter into your desk, the companies on your board, your repertoire, your season costs, your notes and your diary, is saved by your own browser on your own device using a technology called local storage. It is not sent to a server. It is not visible to us. If you clear your browser data it is gone, and we cannot restore it, because we never had a copy.
Accounts and syncing between devices are being built and are currently switched off. When they arrive they will be optional, and the private parts of your desk will be encrypted in your browser before being sent, so they cannot be read on the server either.
Email addresses
If you enter your address into the waiting list, the free page offer, or the contact form, it is stored so that we can write back or tell you when the thing you asked about is ready. With the contact form your name, your chosen topic and your message are stored as well.
The lawful basis is your consent, given by choosing to type it in. You can withdraw it at any time by asking, and it will be deleted. Addresses are kept until you ask for removal or until they are clearly no longer wanted.
Who else touches your data
- Supabase stores the email addresses and messages described above. They act as a processor on our behalf.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on these pages, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads, as it would for any image or file requested from another site.
- The company and school links in the atlas and the resources page point to other organisations. Once you follow one you are on their site and their own privacy policy applies.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Your desk uses local storage, which is similar in that it lives in your browser, but different in that it is never sent to a server with your requests. Nothing here follows you to other websites.
Children
Many dancers are young. This site is not aimed at children under thirteen, and if you are under sixteen please ask a parent or guardian before sending an email address.
Your rights
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area you have the right to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how it is used, and to receive a copy. Write to hello@thedancersdesk.com and it will be handled within one month. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes the date at the top changes with it. Anything significant will be said plainly rather than slipped in.
This policy describes honestly what the site does. It is not legal advice, and if the business grows it is worth having a professional read it.
